New Census - New Look
Welcome to the new look Census Update.
Census Update has been an important part of the ABS' commitment towards maintaining regular contact with you, the users of Census data, offering regular, useful information about Australia's biggest survey - the Census of Population and Housing.
First released in September 1991, this unique reference source has evolved through the 1991, 1996 and 2001 Censuses. What started out as a black and white hard copy newsletter is now available on the ABS web site as a .pdf and in html, as well as in print for special occasions. It is regularly distributed to over 3,000 potential and existing Census data clients across the country.
Census Update is reflective of the stages in the Census cycle - articles are about what's happening at the ABS in terms of planning, implementation and post evaluation. There's behind the scenes information, explanations of terminology and processes, and information about the range of Census products available both now and in the future.
With the 2006 Census fast approaching, we're offering you a revamped layout and hope you continue to find Census Update a valuable resource for your decision making needs.
