###
These economic datasets have been designed to increase students' understanding of ABS data & statistics in general, while giving them a fascinating insight into the lives of Australians. For instance, Dataset Eco1 shows the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which reflects increases or decreases in the costs of goods and services in Australia. This in turn, is often used to help measure inflation.

The data used in the sets have been extracted from a wide range of ABS publications and adapted to make them easy to use, print and graph. Data within the sets has been updated with the latest data available, at the time of publication. If you want other data, you can access all online ABS publications through the Statistics page on the ABS website.

(a) In 2011-12 dollars, adjusted using changes in the Consumer Price Index.
(b) Quintile represents 20% of the whole (e.g the lower quintile is the lowest 20% of the data).
(c) Estimates presented from 2007-08 onwards are not directly comparable with estimates for previous cycles due to the improvements made to measuring income introduced in the
2007–08 cycle. Estimates for 2003–04 and 2005–06 have been recompiled to reflect the new treatments of income, however not all new components introduced in 2007-08 are available
to present the years on a comparable basis.
