  • About this Release

This report focuses on the dual roles of work and caring within families, with a special emphasis on care for children. Topics include characteristics of persons who work and care for children, the long-term ill, disabled or elderly, and other family members; hours worked; types of care provided; types of difficulty experienced; caring for sick children; access to flexible work arrangements. This report is part of a series of publications for the International Year of the Family, based on findings from the 1992 Survey of Families in Australia and the 1992 Time Use Survey.
