There’s still time to complete the Census field test

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) would like to thank everyone who took part in the Census field test.

ABS Western Australia Regional Director Tom Joseph reminded all households selected to participate in the test that if they haven’t already, there’s still time to complete it online.

“Thanks to everyone who took part in the Census field test,” Mr Joseph said.

“If you were selected but haven’t participated in the test, please complete it as soon as possible.

“If you received an instruction letter with a form ID and passcode for online completion you can complete the Census wherever you can access the internet – you don’t need to use your home computer.

“If you have received a paper form, please complete it and return it in the Reply Paid Envelope provided as soon as possible.”

If a household was selected to participate in the test and they have not provided a response a Census Field Officer will visit their home to follow up.

“It’s not too late – we need your support and participation to make it a success,” Mr Joseph said.

“Every response will help the ABS to improve its processes and systems so that the next Census is cheaper, easier and produces better information.

“The new delivery and collection procedures, aimed at increasing online participation, will help us count every person and every household in Australia on Census night in 2016,” Mr Joseph added.

The Census captures a snapshot of Australia and is used to allocate funding for services and infrastructure in your community, including housing, transport, education, industry, hospitals and the environment.

All information provided is kept secure and confidential to the ABS. No information is released in a way that can identify any particular individual or household.

Households can opt-out by contacting the Census Inquiry Service on 1800 138 756 Monday to Friday, between 8am and 6pm (local time), or notify a Census Field Officer when they visit the household.
