Agricultural Census Forms - Round them up and send them back!!

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is urging all primary producers to send back their completed ABS Agricultural Census Forms.

The Agricultural Census Forms, posted in mid June, are due today. Any producers, who have not yet returned their form are encouraged to do so.

The Agricultural Census is the largest collection of businesses undertaken by the ABS and provides benchmark information on the agriculture sector.

Because the Agricultural Census goes to all farm businesses on the Australian Business Register, the data collected provides reliable production commodity estimates at the regional level. It is essential for future planning of both the industry and local regions. The ABS relies on farmers to provide the information used to help this planning.

Gemma Van Halderen, Head of ABS Agriculture Program, appeals to farmers to get their form back now.

"We've got some back, but there are still a lot out there," she said.

"The returned forms help to give the agricultural industry in Australia the edge in today's global economy. People know they can rely on ABS information."
