Peppermint Grove average house values up 95%

In 2008-09 the Local Government Area of Peppermint Grove in Western Australia had the largest average value of private sector houses at $2,469,100. This was an increase of 95.1% from 2004-05, according to the latest National Regional Profiles, released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

Neighbouring Mosman Park had the second largest average value of private sector houses in 2008-09 at $1,579,600 (up 210%, from $508,200 in 2004-05). These Local Government Areas also had some of the highest average taxable incomes in WA in 2007-08; $130,094 (Peppermint Grove) and $116,562 (Mosman Park).

National Regional Profiles use a Google Maps based interface to make it easier to find information on Local Government Areas and other types of regions across Australia.

The regional profiles now include information not in previous releases, including tourist accommodation and additional government payments. This adds to the existing economic and social data such as income, age, occupations, building and agriculture.

WA highlights in today's release include:

The population of the Local Government Area of Wanneroo grew by an average annual rate of 7.6% between 2004-05 and 2008-09, to 144,148. In this period, the total number of people receiving Family Tax Benefits in Wanneroo increased by 18.4%, from 13,185 to 15,617.

Outside of the capital city, the Local Government Area of Roebourne had the highest average value of private sector houses in 2008-09 ($506,100), up from $268,900 in 2004-05. Roebourne had an average taxable income of $79,286 in 2007-08 (the WA average was $58,017).
