Purpose
The Transport Statistics Centre (TSC) provides information and develops models on transportation systems for engineers, practitioners and decision makers.

Description
The Centre has conducted a number of studies in relation to transportation research including:

  • Adelaide Taxi Industry Studies;
  • Adelaide Taxi Safety Initiatives Study;
  • Accessible Taxi Study;
  • Road Safety Research;
  • Road Traffic Studies (includes travel time and fuel consumption databases); and
  • Road Traffic Network models;

The studies are based on data from the Department of Transport, the Office of Road Safety, other government agencies and data collected by the Centre.

Data Detail
For the Taxi Industry studies:
  • Number;
  • Kilometres travelled;
  • Time taken;
  • Fares;
  • Origin and destination;
  • Payment methods; and
  • Rank, worksheet, and radio booking detail.

For the network modelling:
  • Adelaide road transport network;
  • Public transport routes;
  • Network software databases for road engineering software; and
  • Data from geographic information systems (GIS).

The road safety databases include:
  • GIS based accident statistics for remote areas; and
  • Location of hazardous light poles.

Geographic Coverage
Adelaide Metropolitan area.

Frequency of Data Availability
The majority are one-off studies but there is scope for extending the data available.

Historical Data
Many of the studies are post 1994 but data earlier than this may be available.

Publications
The TSC actively disseminates its work through publications, conferences and workshops.
