Purpose

To collect a comprehensive set of statistical data which presents an overall picture of Australia's transport activities.

Description

Presents transport activities with some information about the state of relevant environmental media impacted by those activities along with the response of government, business and individuals to the degradation of environmental quality by transport activities.

Method of collection

Information was collected from the extensive data holdings on Australian transport contained within the ABS and from external sources including government departments at Federal and State level. A framework for environmental reporting developed by the OECD was used.
