DESCRIPTION

The annual Report on Government Services: Indigenous Compendium is produced by the Steering Committee for the Review of Government Service Provision. It details an agreed set of performance indicators and data for these indicators, for each jurisdiction (where possible). These indicators assist governments to assess the performance of the services provided in their jurisdiction.

The ROGS draws statistical data together to provide information, through key indicators, on the performance of specified government agencies and programs in delivering services to the Australian people. The report is used for strategic budget and policy planning and evaluation. The six broad service areas covered by the ROGS are:

  • Education;
  • Justice;
  • Emergency Management;
  • Health;
  • Community Services; and
  • Housing.

The Education section contains a substantial Preface, plus a chapter each for school education, and for vocational education and training. Besides the chapter content and supporting tables, further education data are provided in the Statistical Appendix to the ROGS.

The Indigenous Compendium is a complement to the main annual Report on Government Services (ROGS), which is also published for the Steering Committee for the Review of Government Service Provision. The Indigenous Compendium uses the same structure as the ROGS, and presents the same indicators, where Indigenous data exist for those indicators.
