INTRODUCTION The industry and occupation data items provide details on the industry and occupation of someone's main job. If someone is unemployed, details are provided for the industry and occupation of their last job. Industry and occupation data are only collected in the 'quarterly' labour force survey months: February, May, August and November (the second month of each financial year quarter). Details are also provided on whether someone is working in the public or private sector, and whether they are currently members of a trade union. These items are not collected in the monthly Labour Force Survey (LFS) and are derived from the supplementary survey Employee Earnings, Benefits and Trade Union Membership, Australia (EEBTUM, cat. no. 6310.0), which is collected every August from the employees in seven-eighths of the LFS sample.
