CHANGES TO COUNTRY GROUPINGS

From this issue, the composition of the European Union country grouping has been updated to include Croatia. The label for the 'European Union 27' has been amended to 'European Union 28'. These changes impact on statistics in publication table 14 and time series spreadsheet tables 14a, 14b, 36a – 36j and 37a – 37i in this publication. The new composition applies to the whole time series. Time series IDs will remain the same.


AMENDMENT TO SCHEDULE 4 OF CUSTOMS TARIFF

On 1 July 2013 the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service introduced an amendment to Schedule 4 of the Customs Tariff Act. In Schedule 4 Item number 55, Treatment code 462 was replaced by Treatment code 755. This change is a result of the existing cheese and curd quota scheme ceasing on 30 June 2013 and being replaced by a new scheme. This change will apply to import statistics from July 2013 and will impact on statistics available on request.


AMENDMENT TO INTERNATIONAL MERCHANDISE TRADE: CONFIDENTIAL COMMODITIES LIST (CAT. NO. 5372.0.55.001)

There has been a change to the confidentiality restrictions announced in the July 2013 issue of International Merchandise Trade: Confidential Commodities List (cat. no. 5372.0.55.001) released on 9 August 2013. This change will impact the confidentiality restriction for exports under AHECC code 27090000 (Petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude). The restriction "Selected Country Details India, Japan" will be replaced by "Selected Country Details China, India and Japan".


UPDATES TO THE MAJOR COMMODITIES LISTING

Tables 12 and 13 of this publication present the major commodities for international merchandise trade exports (table 12) and imports (table 13). As part of an annual review, the following major commodities have been updated in the July issue of this publication.

  • There are no changes to the major commodities exports listing.

Table 13, International merchandise imports major commodities:
  • 743 Air pumps, compressors or fans; hoods; centrifuges; filtering apparatus; parts

replaces:

CHANGES IN FORTHCOMING ISSUES

INTRODUCTION OF A NEW GOODS DEBITS ADJUSTMENT

From the August 2013 issue of this publication, a new adjustment will be introduced to include in Balance of Payments goods debits estimates, imports under the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service low value threshold, lodged without a full imports declaration. The introduction of this new adjustment will result in revisions back to July 1998. Further information regarding the new adjustment is available in the Information Paper: Measurement of Online Retail Trade in Macroeconomic Statistics, 2013 (cat. no. 8501.0.55.007).
