POPULATION ESTIMATES TECHNICAL WORKSHOP
The annual ABS Population Estimates Technical Workshop (PETW) was held on 6 December 2011 in Melbourne. The PETW is convened to discuss technical issues with compiling state and territory population estimates, and is held in conjunction with the annual Australia and New Zealand Population Workshop. Invitees include representatives from State and Territory Planning and Treasury agencies, including the Queensland Office of Economic and Statistical Research, and the Australian Government Treasury and the Commonwealth Grants Commission. The focus of discussion was on the compilation of population estimates as at 31 December which are used for GST distribution.
