This information paper provides users of Australian Bureau of Statistics' (ABS) industry-based statistics with an update on the implementation of the new Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC) 2006 classification and shows the release schedule of statistics based on ANZSIC 2006. It builds upon the previous information paper (cat. no. 1295.0) released in November 2005 which advised stakeholders of broad plans for the release and adoption of ANZSIC 2006.

This paper forms part of a suite of information available to prepare users of industry data for this significant change. This information paper includes updated details relating to the on-going implementation of ANZSIC 2006 across the ABS, specifically describing the range of ANZSIC 2006 products and support tools; progress on the ANZSIC 2006 implementation; and release schedule of statistics based on ANZSIC 2006.
