Internet Service Providers (ISPs) were asked to report the number of subscribers as at 30 June 2012, by the advertised download speed (in ranges) of access connection.

The advertised download speed range that recorded the highest number of subscribers at 30 June 2012 was the 1.5Mbps to less than 8Mbps range, with 5.1 million subscribers, a 1% decline from the end of December 2011. Almost 4.1 million subscribers accessed the internet at an advertised download speed of 8Mbps to less than 24Mbps, an increase of 3% from the end of December 2011.

Subscriber numbers in the two fastest download speed ranges of 24Mbps to less than 100Mbps, and 100Mbps or greater, grew by 20% and 34% respectively since the end of December 2011, and together accounted for almost 1.5 million subscribers at 30 June 2012.
