In the June quarter 2013, the Final demand index rose 0.1%, the Intermediate demand index rose 0.1% and the Preliminary demand index fell 0.3%. Through the year to the June quarter 2013, the Final demand index rose 1.2%, the Intermediate demand index rose 0.8% and the Preliminary demand index rose 0.3%.

The rise of 0.1% in the Final demand index reflected an increase of 0.1% in the prices of domestically produced products and an increase of 0.4% in the prices of imported products. Partly offsetting these rises were falls in the prices received for other agriculture (-4.4%) and petroleum refining (-2.5%). The imports component recorded rises in the prices for computer and electronic equipment manufacturing (+2.2%), clothing manufacturing (+2.5%) and professional and scientific equipment manufacturing (+2.4%). Partly offsetting these rises were falls in the prices for motor vehicle and motor vehicle part manufacturing (-1.4%), petroleum refining and petroleum fuel manufacturing (-5.8%) and pharmaceutical and medicinal product manufacturing (-1.8%).

The rise of 0.1% in the Intermediate demand index reflected no movement in the prices of domestically produced products and a rise of 0.2% in the prices of imported products. The domestic component recorded rises in the prices received for non-metallic mineral product manufacturing (+2.0%) and road freight transport (+1.3%). These were offset by falls in the prices received for petroleum refining and petroleum fuel manufacturing (-5.8%), oil and gas extraction (-6.1%) and basic non-ferrous metal manufacturing (-6.2%). The imports component recorded rises in the prices for polymer product manufacturing (+2.0%) and textile, leather, clothing and footwear manufacturing (+1.9%). Partly offsetting these rises were falls in the prices for oil and gas extraction (-5.6%), petroleum refining and petroleum fuel manufacturing (-4.8%) and metal ore mining (-9.5%).

The fall of 0.3% in the Preliminary demand index reflected a decrease of 0.2% in the prices of domestically produced products and a fall of 0.7% in the prices of imported products. The domestic component recorded falls in the prices received for metal ore mining (-10.2%), petroleum refining and petroleum fuel manufacturing (-6.5%) and oil and gas extraction (-6.1%).
