QUEENSLAND

  • From June 2006 to June 2016, the SA2 with the largest population increase in Queensland was North Lakes - Mango Hill (up by 22,000 people) in the Moreton Bay region, north of Brisbane. Large growth also occurred in Upper Coomera - Willow Vale (17,400) on the Gold Coast, Deeragun (14,200) an outer suburb of Townsville, and Springfield Lakes (11,100) a suburb of Ipswich.
  • Five of the ten SA2s with the fastest population increases between 2006 and 2016 were located outside of Greater Brisbane. Pimpama on the Gold Coast was the fastest-growing SA2 (that is it had the strongest growth rate) in Queensland (460%). This was followed by Peregian Springs (360%) on the Sunshine Coast, North Lakes - Mango Hill (240%) and Coomera (230%) also on the Gold Coast.
