The new Migrant Data Matrices (cat. no. 3415.0) provide a useful way to find and access ABS data on migrants and ethnicity. This web-based product has links to spreadsheets containing data on migrants sourced from a range of ABS surveys. There's a broad selection of demographic, geographic and socioeconomic data cross-tabulated (where available) by country of birth, language (including proficiency), year of arrival, citizenship, religious affiliation, ancestry, and visa category. Data can be easily located under nine broad topics: Crime and Justice, Culture and Leisure, Education and Training, Family and Community, Health, Housing, Labour (Employment), Personal and Household Finances, and Population Characteristics. The Migrant Data Matrices also include links to detailed information from the source publications, a glossary with definitions of migrant related data items as well as the Guide to Migrant Statistical Sources (cat. no. 3414.0). The Migrant Data Matrices will be updated regularly with new matrices as data become available. For other new products from the National Migrant Statistics Unit please see the ABS Migrant and Ethnicity Theme Page or the half yearly electronic newsletter Migrant Statistics News. If you need assistance finding migrant and ethnicity statistical information contact the ABS National Information and Referral Service on 1300 135 070 or email client.services@abs.gov.au.
