These products provide data on the nature and extent of violence experienced by men and women since the age of 15, including their experience of violence in the 12 months prior to the survey. These products also provide information about men's and women's experience of current and previous partner violence and emotional abuse since the age of 15, experience of stalking since the age of 15, experience of sexual harassment in their lifetime, experience of physical and sexual abuse before the age of 15 and general feelings of safety.
A detailed list of data items available from the TableBuilder and Detailed Microdata products can be accessed in the Downloads Tab of this product.
The microdata enables users to tabulate, manipulate and analyse data. Steps to confidentialise the dataset have been applied to ensure the integrity of data and maintain confidentiality of respondents. This includes removing any information that might uniquely identify an individual or household, reducing the level of detail for some items and collapsing some categories. For TableBuilder this also includes the use of Perturbation.
Approved users can use the information, about men's and women's various experiences of violence, to enable in-depth studies about violence, its nature, extent, impacts and consequences.
Detailed information about the data content and survey methodology is provided in the Personal Safety Survey, Australia: User Guide 2016 (cat. no. 4906.0.55.003).
