IMPRISONMENT RATES At 30 June 2013, the Northern Territory had the highest imprisonment rate at 821 prisoners per 100,000 adult population, followed by Western Australia at 256 prisoners per 100,000 adult population. The Australian Capital Territory had the lowest imprisonment rate at 118 prisoners per 100,000 adult population. (Table 17) Sex At 30 June 2013, the Northern Territory had the highest female imprisonment rate at 130 female prisoners per 100,000 adult female population, followed by Western Australia with 47 female prisoners per 100,000 adult female population.
