SUBDIVISION 52 - TRANSPORT SUPPORT SERVICES

Transport Support Services was the second largest employing industry subdivision in the Transport, Postal and Warehousing industry division, employing 97,000 persons at end June 2011.

During the 2010-11 financial year, the Transport Support Services industry subdivision generated $31.9b of Total income. The main source of income was from Total income from transport services, which accounted for 78.1% ($24.9b). Of this $24.9b, Freight forwarding agency services accounted for 36.0% ($9.0b) and Other income from transport services accounted for 28.0% ($7.0b).

The Transport Support Services industry subdivision incurred $27.9b of Total expenses, during the 2010-11 financial year. The main expense items were Other expenses, accounting for 41.6% ($11.6b) of Total expenses, Total transport related expenses at 34.4% ($9.6b), and Labour costs accounting for 21.2% ($5.9b).
