Wheat grain committed
  • Wheat grain export commitments fell by 280 thousand tonnes (or 4%) to 6.1 million tonnes in May 2012.
  • South Australia had the largest fall in wheat grain committed for export in May 2012, with a decrease of 504 thousand tonnes (or 38%) to 808 thousand tonnes since April 2012. The second largest fall was recorded in New South Wales where wheat grain commitments were down by 364 thousand tonnes (or 35%) to 674 thousand tonnes.
  • In Western Australia wheat grain commitments for export were up by 641 thousand tonnes (27%) to 3 million tonnes from April 2012. Western Australia's contribution accounted for 49% of the total Australian wheat export commitments and was the second largest amount committed by any State since the collection started in 2008.
