Wheat grain committed
  • Across Australia, there was an overall decrease in wheat grain export commitments. Although wheat grain export commitments fell by 196 thousand tonnes (or 3%) to 6.4 million tonnes in April 2012, it was still the fourth largest for any month since the collection started in October 2008.
  • South Australia had the largest fall in wheat grain committed for export in April 2012, with a decrease of 254 thousand tonnes (or 16%) to 1.3 million tonnes. This was followed by Victoria, with a fall of 115 thousand tonnes (or 8%) since March 2012, to 1.3 million tonnes.
  • In Western Australia, wheat commitments for export were up by 111 thousand tonnes from March 2012. With 2.4 million tonnes, Western Australia's wheat grain export commitments were nearly twice as high as in South Australia and accounted for 37% of the Australian total.
