BREASTFEEDING (FEMALES 18+)

Definition

This topic focusses on whether the respondent ever had a baby and whether they had ever breastfed any of their own children.

Population

Information was collected for females aged 18 years and over in the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey (NATSIHS).

Methodology

Females aged 18 years and over were asked whether they had ever had any babies and if so, whether they had ever breastfed any of their own children.

Comparability with 2004-05 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey (NATSIHS)

Data for common items are considered directly comparable between the 2004-05 NATSIHS and 2012-13 NATSIHS.

Comparability with 2008 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Survey (NATSISS)

Breastfeeding information for females aged 18 years and over was not collected in the 2008 NATSISS.

Comparability with the 2011-12 National Health Survey (NHS)

Breastfeeding information for females aged 18 years and over was not collected in the 2011-12 NHS.
