The 2011 Childhood Education and Care Survey comprised a questionnaire of 20 modules and approximately 350 questions which resulted in around 230 output data items. Including the data items obtained from the Labour Force Survey there are approximately 280 data items in total. Not all the data items are included in the microdata products.

Users intending to purchase either the CURF or TableBuilder should consult the individual data item lists to ensure that the data they require, and the level of detail they need, are available in these products.

CURF DATA

Subject to the limitations of the sample size and the data classifications used, it is possible to interrogate the CURF, produce tabulations and undertake statistical analyses to individual specifications.

The CURF file contains 162 data items. For a complete list of all data items included on the CURF, including relevant population and classification details, refer to the Excel spreadsheet in the Downloads tab. The data item spreadsheet has 5 worksheets:

  • table of contents
  • data items on income unit characteristics
  • data items on income unit care characteristics
  • data items on child characteristics
  • data items on child care characteristics.

The populations used in the derivations of the data items are listed in the Population column of each data item.

TABLEBUILDER DATA

Data items on the TableBuilder are available for cross tabulation, although some restrictions may apply.

The TableBuilder file contains 211 data items. For a complete list of all the data items, including relevant population and classification details, refer to the Excel spreadsheet in the Downloads tab. The data item spreadsheet has 5 worksheets:
  • table of contents
  • data items on income unit characteristics
  • data items on income unit care characteristics
  • data items on child characteristics
  • data items on child care characteristics.
The populations used in the derivations of the data items are listed in the Population column of each data item.
