In 2009-10 there were 79.7 million litres of pure alcohol available from beer, which is a decrease of 1.7% from 2008–09 (81.1 million litres). Full strength beer made up 82.4% of all beer available for consumption in 2009-10, followed by mid strength beer (12.7%) and low strength beer (4.9%).

Over the past 6 years, the amount of alcohol available for consumption from low strength beer has decreased 37.3% (from 6.2 million litres in 2004–05 to 3.9 million litres in 2009-10), while mid and full strength beer has increased (Table 2).
