Searching for a Region

Some areas have a unique numerical code, such as SA1s, whilst others have both a code and a name, such as LGAs. You can search for a town or city you are interested in by entering the name in the "Fly to" box.

If you know the specific code or name of the area you are searching for, another option is to click anywhere on the sidebar and press "Ctrl-F"; this will bring up a find box. Type in the code or name of the area you are looking for and press enter.

When searching for SA1s in the SA1 level thematic maps, it is necessary to search for the 11-digit code, rather than the truncated 7-digit code. This should be done by opening the "Edit" menu and clicking "Find" and typing the SA1 11-digit code. The appropriate SA1 code will be highlighted, which can be clicked on to display it on the map. The correspondence between the 7-digit and 11-digit codes can be found in Table 7 of Statistical Area Level 1, Indexes, available from the Downloads tab. For information regarding why there are two SA1 codes, refer to "Why are there two SA1 codes?" on the FAQ page of the website.
