The population pyramid of Melbourne is shown below. It is typical of the capital city LGAs with high Census Night ratios: Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney. The pyramids for these LGAs have a distinct "Christmas tree" shape: few children under 15, slightly more people aged from 15-19 years and many more adults between 20 and 29 years old.
