PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE METHODOLOGY SUB-GROUP

The purpose of the sub-group was to advise the HSRG and the ABS on the methodology used for estimating the prevalence of homelessness using the Censuses of Population and Housing 2001, 2006 and 2011, taking into consideration the limitations of the Census and the ABS definition of homelessness (details of the membership of the group are provided in Appendix 2). The work of the definition sub-group was framed by tight timelines linked to specified ABS release dates for ABS official estimates of homelessness from the 2001, 2006 and 2011 Censuses of Population and Housing.
