ABOUT THIS RELEASE

Provides information about the demographic changes that have taken place in Australia, focusing on the 1996 and 2001 Census years.

Includes information on the growth, location and mobility of the population at national, State and regional levels. A major emphasis is on the characteristics and volume of interstate and intrastate movements between 1996 and 2001. Final estimates at the Statistical Local Area level for all of Australia are also provided.
