(Brian Pink, Australian Statistician)

The ABS farewelled the Australian Statistician, Dennis Trewin at the end of 2006 following seven successful years of leadership. Mr Trewin led a remarkable tenure with the ABS, overseeing two Censuses, the ABS Centenary of Statistics and facilitating the availability of ABS statistics free on the web.

Mr Trewin's successor, Brian Pink (photographed above) began the exciting role as head of the ABS on 5 March. Mr Pink brings with him a wealth of experience and an outstanding commitment to furthering statistics within Australia and internationally.

Mr Pink began his career with the ABS in the NSW regional office and has held many esteemed positions including the Statistics Support Group Manager, WA Government Statistician, New Zealand Government Statistician and Chief Executive of Statistics New Zealand. Mr Pink is currently the President of the International Association of Official Statisticians and The Vice Chair of The OECD Committee of Statistics.
