This Expanded Confidentialised Unit Record File (CURF) from the 2008–09 Multipurpose Household Survey provides statistics on four topics: Crime Victimisation, Barriers and Incentives to Labour Force Participation, Retirement and Retirement Intentions and Household Use of Information Technology. In addition, the CURF also contains socio-demographic information such as educational qualifications, labour force status, occupation and industry of current job and personal and household income.

Re-issue: The CURF has been re-issued following some corrections to the data item "Industry of current main job (ANZSIC 2006)". During processing some codes were incorrectly allocated to the wrong industries. At the broad Division level, the industries most affected were Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; Mining; and Manufacturing, along with some minor changes to Construction; Retail Trade; Transport, Postal and Warehousing; Information Media and Telecommunications; Education and Training; and Arts and Recreation Services.

Users are able to tabulate, manipulate and analyse data to their individual specifications. Steps to confidentialise the dataset have been taken to ensure the integrity of the data, optimising its content and maintaining the confidentiality of respondents. These include removing any information that might uniquely identify an individual, reducing the level of detail for some items and collapsing some categories.

This Expanded CURF is only available through the Remote Access Data Laboratory (RADL) and the ABS Data Laboratory (ABSDL). A manual explaining data content, technical details and conditions of use is available through Technical Manual: Multipurpose Household Survey, Expanded CURF, Australia, 2008–09 (cat. no 4100.0).

For information on applying for access to ABS CURFs, see the CURF Microdata Entry Page.
