ABOUT THIS RELEASE

A Confidentialised Unit Record File (CURF) from the Australian Business Longitudinal Survey (BLS). The BLS provides a unique database which examines a wide range of business characteristics and behaviours, and links these to performance over time. The BLS provides the analyst with information to examine the impact of issues such as exporting, innovation, business planning, different employment structures, different financial structures, training, business networks (just to mention a few) have on business growth and performance. The analyst can choose or construct a range of different performance measures based on profit, sales, assets, equity or capital expenditure.

The file contains data from a sample of approximately 5100 small and medium private sector businesses covering most industries for each of the four years 1994-95 to 1997-98.
