ABS seeks local runners to support annual charity fun run next Thursday


The Australian Bureau of Statistics is encouraging all Canberrans to take part in its annual fun run for charity next Thursday (24 May).

The fun run is in support of the ACT Cancer Council.

The 7.3 km course is set through the parklands around Lake Ginninderra.

Local community businesses have got behind the event, providing prizes for a barrel draw after the run.

Last year's Fun Run attracted more than 560 entrants, and raised over $6,600 for the ACT Cancer Council.


Details

What: Australian Bureau of Statistics Fun Run.

When: Thursday 24 May 2007, starting at 12.30 pm.

Where: John Knight Park, adjacent to Lake Ginninderra College (start and finish).

Why: Raising money to help support the ACT Cancer Council reduce the incidence and impact of cancer in the ACT.

Who: Over 500 runners, joggers and walkers from the Canberra community are expected, with strong participation from government department teams.
