ABS releases revisions to labour force estimates

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today released revised Labour Force survey data. The revisions follow the annual reanalysis of seasonal factors, and the five yearly revision of population estimates following each Census of Population and Housing.

All original Labour Force estimates have been revised from January 1995 to January 1999 as a result of the revision of population estimates. The reanalysis of seasonal factors has resulted in the revision of all seasonally adjusted and trend Labour Force estimates from February 1978 to January 1999.

The following table compares revised with previously published seasonally adjusted estimates of employment and the unemployment rate for the period January 1998 to January 1999.
