ABS Fun Run to raise funds for cancer - this Thursday

Canberran's are being urged to take part in the Australian Bureau of Statistics annual Fun Run this Thursday (27 May) to support the ACT Cancer Council.

So far nearly 500 people have registered to walk or run the 7.3 km course around the cyclepaths of Lake Ginninderra's parkland. The event starts at John Knight Park, adjacent to Lake Ginninderra College at 12.30pm this Thursday. This year there is a shorter 6.2 km course for nominated walkers.

Each year the event attracts a large number of participants and ABS Fun Run Committee Chair Peter Harper, hopes for a rush of late entries wanting to support the ACT Cancer Council.

"It's a top event for serious competitors, but also a great outing for those who enjoy the scenery and fresh air and want to get a bit of exercise," said Peter.

"This year all proceeds from the run will go to the Cancer Council to help reduce the incidence and impact of cancer in the ACT."
