ABS turns 100, thank you Australia

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) celebrates its 100th birthday today.

Australian Statistician Dennis Trewin said today's celebration was an opportunity to also thank the individuals and businesses who have provided data through ABS surveys.

"We are grateful for the support of Australian households and businesses and dependent on their continuing support to produce relevant and useful information," he said.

As part of the ABS' Centenary celebrations, the Treasurer, the Hon Peter Costello, is to give an address today at ABS House in Canberra.
