eCensus is a hit in the ACT, with 13.7% of Canberra households filling in their Census on-line compared to 7.6% nationally as of today.
As at 8.00am this morning, 18,411 eCensus forms have been submitted in the ACT. Across Australia, 655,658 eCensus forms have been submitted.
The next highest rate of eCensus returns were in Western Australia (8.1% of households).
Thousands of eCensus users have also provided overwhelmingly positive feedback on the 2006 Census of Population and Housing's on-line option.
According the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) ACT Regional Director, Karen Vitullo, eCensus is very suited to the ACT community.
"The ACT has the highest rate of computer use and internet connection in Australia, so it is little surprise that Canberrans lead the nation with eCensus too.
"If you have not yet completed your Census form in paper or on-line, there is still time.
"Collectors will be returning from this weekend until 28th August. Please help your Census collector by completing your Census as soon as you can.
"You should complete your form for the details of your household on Census Night - Tuesday 8th August."
The vast majority of Australians have completed their Census form. Those people who do not have a form can request one by email at census.forms@abs.gov.au, or by calling the Census Inquiry Service on 1300 362 883, and providing the ABS with a relevant residential address.
