Year Book 1998 is a statistical look at the Sunshine state

The Australian Bureau of Statistics today released the Queensland Year Book 1998.

The Year Book is a principal reference tool for information about Queensland and is held in high regard by those who use it. (It is also a good source of stories for media reporting with further information from the original surveys being available on request.)

The 1998 edition contains a comprehensive and detailed statistical review of various aspects of the economy and social conditions in Queensland, including Government, environment, history and lifestyle.

The following special feature articles are included:
  • The Governor General, Major General Peter Arnison;
  • Eungella National Park; and
  • Recreational Fishing in Qld.
Mr Brian Doyle, the Regional Director for Queensland ABS, said the release of the Year Book was an opportune time to extend thanks and appreciation for the continued co-operation received from individuals, primary producers, government agencies and other organisations who provide the basic information from which ABS statistics were produced.

Retail copies of the Queensland Year Book 1998 (cat. no. 1301.3) are available from the ABS bookshop, 18th Floor, 313 Adelaide St, Brisbane. Media organisations who require a review copy should contact Paull Hoffmann on (07) 3222 6496.

Electronic Media please note that Queensland-based talent is available to support this media release.
