Australian Education and Training Statistics Online
The National Centre for Education and Training Statistics (NCETS) today launched a new web page designed to help people make sense of the maze of Australian education and training statistics.

The new page can be accessed at www.abs.gov.au/ncets and is expected to be most useful to educators, academics, State and Commonwealth policy makers, unions and employer groups.

Australian education and training statistics are collected by a range of organisations. This makes it difficult for people to find out what data has been collected and where to find it. The new web page will help to solve this problem.

NCETS Director Mel Butler said the new web site included information about sources of statistics, the best people to talk to, and links to other useful web sites.

"The new web page will be updated regularly to include any new information - for example, it will include the latest Schools statistics when they are released on 12 February," said Mr Butler.

"The web page will prove to be a useful resource for people wishing to find out what is going on in education and training statistics and it will include information about the latest projects being undertaken by the centre," he said.

Contact the centre by email at ncets@abs.gov.au.

The National Centre for Education and Training Statistics was established last year by the Australian Bureau of Statistics with support from the Department of Education, Training and Youth Affairs, the Australian National Training Authority, and education and training agencies in all States and Territories.
