CHANGES TO THIS ISSUE
  • This issue includes two new tables. The first table is a quarterly balance sheet for the household sector. The second table contains analytical measures of income, consumption, saving and wealth for the household sector. Both tables are quarterly counterparts to annual tables already published in Australian System of National Accounts (cat. no. 5204.0). These new tables are available in electronic format only, (table 43 and 44) and do not appear in the PDF. More information regarding these tables can be found in the November 2013 issue of Spotlight on National Accounts (cat. no. 5202.0).

SIGNIFICANT EVENTS
  • In the June quarter 2013 issue of this publication the ABS announced that there would be revisions to previously published aggregates back to June quarter 1988 as part of the quality assurance work undertaken through reviews of compilation methods and through data providers to the ABS. These changes will be published in the March quarter 2014 issue of this publication.
  • During the June quarter 2013, the investment activity of a national public non financial corporation unit has been confidentialised to maintain the anonymity of the unit. As a consequence of suppressing estimates directly impacted, other series have been consequentitally suppressed in affected tables to preserve confidentiality.

REVISIONS IN THIS ISSUE

There have been revisions to previously published aggregates:
  • from June 1988 to June 2011, the revisions are only to the rest of the world sector and its counterparties as a result of a change of methodology in calculating estimates for persons changing residency, For more detailed information refer to the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position, Australia, September 2013 (cat. no. 5302.0).
  • from September 2011 onwards, revisions are due to, quality assurance work undertaken through reviews of compilation of the published estimates and through data providers to the ABS Survey of Financial Information, ABS Survey of International Investment and APRA administrative data sets and changes from the new residency model.
  • from June 1988 onwards, there are revisions to the sectoral capital accounts due to a review of the sources and methodology.
