JUNE KEY POINTS

SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during June 2014 (574,100 movements) increased 0.1% compared with May 2014 (573,300 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.6% in April 2014 and 0.4% in May 2014. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 9.5% higher than in June 2013.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During June 2014, short-term visitor arrivals (565,000 movements) decreased 3.0% compared with May 2014 (582,600 movements). This followed monthly increases of 1.9% in April 2014 and 1.8% in May 2014.
  • Original estimates: There were 452,400 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in June 2014.


SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during June 2014 (759,600 movements) increased 0.3% compared with May 2014 (756,900 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.5% in both April 2014 and May 2014. The current trend estimate for departures is 4.0% higher than in June 2013.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During June 2014, short-term resident departures (769,700 movements) increased 2.1% compared with May 2014 (753,800 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 11.3% in April 2014 and a monthly decrease of 5.0% in May 2014.
  • Original estimates: There were 874,300 short-term resident departures from Australia in June 2014.
