TREND ESTIMATES
  • Total job vacancies in May 2011 were 186,000, a decrease of 1.7% from February 2011.
  • The number of job vacancies in the private sector was 167,800 in May 2011, a decrease of 1.9% from February 2011.
  • The number of job vacancies in the public sector was 18,200 in May 2011, an increase of 0.6% from February 2011.

IMPACT OF NATURAL DISASTERS

For the May 2011 Job Vacancies Survey, normal data collection activities were resumed in nearly all places in Queensland which had previously been declared official disaster areas. As a result, there are no impacts on data quality for May 2011 job vacancy estimates.
