2008 ASGC AREA BASED CONCORDANCES

The Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) is a hierarchical classification system of geographical areas and consists of a number of interrelated structures. It provides a common framework of statistical geography and enables the production of statistics which are comparable.

The ASGC 2008 has a date of effect of 1 July 2008.

The product Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) Concordances (cat. no. 1216.0.15.002) contains four separate concordance files. These files are comma delimited and include metadata information that shows the file format.

2008 ASGC Structures Concordance

This file shows the relationship of the Statistical Local Area (SLA) within the 2008 ASGC Structures. This includes the Main Structure, the Statistical District Structure, the Statistical Region Structure and the Local Government Area Structure.

2008 LGA from 2008 SLA Concordance

This file allows the conversion of data from the ASGC Edition 2008 Statistical Local Areas (SLA) to 2008 Local Government Areas (LGA). This area based concordance can be used to translate statistics aggregated by SLA to LGA aggregations.

2008 SLA from 2006 CD Concordance

This file allows the conversion of data from the 2006 Collection Districts (CD) to ASGC Edition 2008 Statistical Local Areas (SLA). This area based concordance can be used to translate statistics aggregated by CD to SLA aggregations.

2008 SLA from 2007 SLA Concordance

This file allows the conversion of data from the 2007 Statistical Local Areas (SLA) to ASGC Edition 2008 Statistical Local Areas (SLA). This area based concordance can be used to translate statistics aggregated by 2007 SLA to 2008 SLA aggregations.
