ABOUT THIS ISSUE

This publication updates the preliminary estimates released in Construction Work Done, Australia (cat. no. 8755.0) on 26 November 2008. The data in this publication are based on a response rate of approximately 96% of the value of building work done during the quarter. The data are subject to revision when returns from the following quarter are processed. Final data for the September quarter 2008 will be released in Building Activity, Australia (cat. no. 8752.0) on 17 April 2009.

CHANGES IN THIS ISSUE

A new base year, 2006-07, has been introduced into the chain volume estimates which has resulted in minor revisions to growth rates in subsequent periods. In addition, the chain volume estimates have been re-referenced to 2006-07. Additivity is preserved in the quarters of the reference year and subsequent quarters. Re-referencing affects the level of, but not the movements in, chain volume estimates.
