APRIL KEY POINTS

Livestock and meat slaughter monthly trend movements for April 2018:
  • Cattle slaughter increased by 7,330 head (or 1.2%) for the month ending April 2018 compared with the previous month and increased by 52,120 head (or 8.9%) year-on-year.
  • Calf slaughter increased by 1,500 head (or 4.5%) for the month ending April 2018 compared with the previous month and increased by 5,410 head (or 18.5%) year-on-year.
  • Sheep slaughter increased by 9,300 head (or 1.4%) for the month ending April 2018 compared with the previous month but increased by 101,620 head (or 17.7%) year-on-year.
  • Lamb slaughter increased by 19,080 head (or 1.0%) for the month ending April 2018 compared with the previous month and increased by 163,730 head (or 9.1%) year-on-year.
  • Pig slaughter remained steady, increasing by 110 head for the month ending April 2018 compared with the previous month and increased by 15,840 head (or 3.7%) year-on-year.
