JUNE KEY POINTS


AUSTRALIAN WINE DOMESTIC SALES

DOMESTIC WINE SALES
  • The trend estimate for domestic sales of Australian produced wine was 35.8 million litres in June 2009, no change from last month and up 1.7% from June 2008.
  • The seasonally adjusted estimate was 36.4 million litres this month, up 0.5% from May 2009 but down 7.6% on June last year.


WHITE TABLE WINE
  • The trend estimate for domestic sales of Australian produced white wine was 17.0 million litres this month, an increase of 0.2% on May 2009 and 0.7% on June 2008.
  • The seasonally adjusted estimate was 17.4 million litres in June 2009, up 0.3% from May 2009 and 6.8% lower than June 2008.


RED/ROSÉ TABLE WINE
  • The trend estimate for domestic sales of Australian produced red and rosé wine fell by 0.1% to 13.2 million litres this month but was up 1.8% on the same month last year.
  • The seasonally adjusted estimate was 13.2 million litres in June 2009, a decrease of 1.8% on May 2009 and 12.1% on June 2008.


AUSTRALIAN WINE EXPORTS
  • Exports of Australian produced wine decreased by 5.6% this month to 66 million litres. The value of the exported wine in June 2009 was $207.7 million, a decrease of 1.7% from last month. Australia exported 752.5 million litres, with a total value of $2.5 billion in the twelve months ending June 2009. This was a rise of 5.3% in volume and a decrease of 7.5% in value over the corresponding period to June 2008.
