ABS Income Variables are used to provide important insights into the economic wellbeing of Australian households. Household income statistics produced from ABS surveys and the Census of Population and Housing are vital to the analysis and modelling that supports the understanding of the socioeconomic circumstances of different household types. This documentation presents the statistical standards suitable for the collection, processing, storage, and dissemination of statistics on household income for use in all relevant ABS and external statistical collections.
The ABS Income Variables underwent a minor review in 2014-15. No major changes were made to the standards as a result of this process.
