ABOUT THIS RELEASE

A confidentialised unit record file (CURF) containing one record for each of the contributing 6,333 respondents to the survey. The sample survey is a stratified collection of private dwellings in all States and Territories in Australia which obtained information from one woman aged 18 years or more in each of the selected dwellings.

Purchasers are provided with the opportunity to satisfy detailed and extensive data needs. To ensure that the integrity of respondents is not compromised, some variables collected in the survey (including State and Territory identification) are not available on the CURF, and the categories of some other variables have been collapsed. The methodology used to confidentialise the data ensures that the accuracy of the nature and extent of violence against women measured in the survey is maintained.

An information paper is included which provides technical and other details of the unit record file and conditions of use.
