FEBRUARY KEY POINTS

SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during February 2015 (592,600 movements) increased 0.4% compared with January 2015 (590,300 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.5% in both December 2014 and January 2015. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 4.8% higher than in February 2014.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During February 2015, short-term visitor arrivals (602,800 movements) increased 3.8% compared with January 2015 (580,600 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 2.4% in December 2014 and a monthly decrease of 1.8% in January 2015.
  • Original estimates: There were 722,200 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in February 2015.


SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during February 2015 (775,000 movements) increased 0.5% compared with January 2015 (770,900 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.5% in December 2014 and 0.6% in January 2015. The current trend estimate for departures is 3.9% higher than in February 2014.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During February 2015, short-term resident departures (776,700 movements) increased 0.2% compared with January 2015 (774,800 movements). This followed monthly increases of 2.5% in December 2014 and 0.2% in January 2015.
  • Original estimates: There were 554,500 short-term resident departures from Australia in February 2015.
