SUMMARY INFORMATION

This publication presents information from the 2013-14 Business Characteristics Survey (BCS). The BCS is conducted annually and collects detailed information relating to: use of information technology (IT); innovation; and a broad range of other non-financial characteristics.

Statistics released in this publication includes information on business structure and arrangements, business markets and competition, business finance, business innovation, business performance and barriers and skills including skill shortages. Statistics included are additional to those outputs from the BCS released earlier this year in Summary of IT Use and Innovation in Australian Business, 2013-14 (cat. no. 8166.0) and Business Use of Information Technology, 2013-14 (cat. no. 8129.0).

There are two components to this release: web based information on a limited selection of topics and data cubes for the full set of topics. Many of the data cubes present data cross-classified by innovation status and industry by employment size.
